ASERL Friends: I've heard from several of you regarding the recent announcement from HathiTrust about their Shared Print monograph initiative. Based on your feedback and Hathi's reply date of Sept 30, I've scheduled a webinar for NEXT WEEK to share more information about this endeavor. Apologies for the short notice! In summary, HathiTrust is initiating a Shared Print Program to secure retention commitments for print monographs that correspond to holdings in the HathiTrust Digital Library. Lizanne Payne, HathiTrust Shared Print Program Officer, has recently invited member libraries to participate in Phase 1 as planning partners and potential collection holders. Lizanne will present information to ASERL libraries about the HathiTrust Shared Print Program, including: • goals and timetable • the difference between Phase 1 (start-up) and Phase 2 (full implementation) • policy development • expected roles and activities of Phase 1 participants • relationship to other shared print agreements e.g. EAST, VIVA, and others • next steps to join the Phase 1 program Additional information can be found on the HathiTrust website at http://www.hathitrust.org/print_monograph_archiving WEBINAR: "Overview of HathiTrust's Shared Print Program" DATE / TIME: Wednesday, September 21, 2016 | 2pm EDT / 1pm Central Time REGISTER: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/1251892222050541570 As always, these sessions are available at no cost to ASERL members, and will be recorded for later playback.
