ASERL Friends:

Are you a curious, forward-thinking, dependable, persistent and detail-oriented
individual? Are you looking for new opportunities to use your skills, meet new
& interesting colleagues, make a positive impact on the library community? We
have an array of opportunities for you! ASERL is seeking volunteers to help
with leading our many professional interest groups and committees, starting in
summer 2024.  Leadership opportunities include:

  *   Accessibility Interest Group
  * Associate Deans / AUL Networking Group
  *   Collection Strategy Interest Group
  * Resource Sharing Committee (an expansion of Kudzu-Ops to include Resource
Sharing at all ASERL libraries)
  *   Scholarly Communications Committee
  *   Special Collections Interest Group

Our committees/interest groups typically have a leadership group of 4 - 6
people who collaborate to shape the future of their group's activities. Each
group is tasked with creating at least one public-facing program per quarter
(e.g., a community conversation, a webinar, an online networking session, etc.)
 In-person events are also possible, like our Leadership Development workshops
and the "Risky Business" conference we held last year for people working with
special collections and archives.

The impact of your contributions will be remarkable -- our top events have
drawn more than 1,000 participants, and we average 75 participants per webinar.
Imagine the influence you can have on librarians and cultural heritage
professionals from all corners of the world!

  * TIME COMMITMENT: Leadership roles such as this typically require 2-3
hours per month.
  * EXPERIENCE LEVEL: We are seeking dedicated volunteers from all areas of
the library to help lead our committees/interest groups. We welcome all levels
of experience, including people who are early in their careers and/or serving
in staff roles. Bonus points if you already have experience hosting or
organizing professional development webinars or events -- your previous
involvement in such initiatives will undoubtedly be an asset to our committee.
  * NEXT STEPS: If you're interested in becoming a part of this exciting
work, simply send an email to Elaina Norlin enorlin [at]
aserl.org<mailto:enorlin [at] aserl.org>, expressing which group(s) are most
interesting to you and why you would be a great volunteer. We value your
enthusiasm, expertise, and commitment to professional growth.
  * TIMELINE: Please contact us by June 10, 2024.

Don't miss this opportunity to shape the future of professional development for
librarians. And please share with colleagues at other ASERL
libraries<https://www.aserl.org/about/member-libraries-map/> who might be
interested!

Thanks for your consideration!

Kind regards,
