Subject: [aserl-collection-strategy] DeGruyter Offer for ASERL Members

Hello ASERL colleagues,
We have received an offer from DeGruyter we’d like to pass along to you. They
are offering their University Press Library to ASERL members at an additional
5% discount for 2023 and prior year collections to ASERL members, with
additional benefits for multi-year options. Orders must be placed by June 30,
2024 to receive the additional discounts.

What we like:

  * Access is perpetual, DRM-free, and open to multiple users.
  * The ebook titles are lendable.
  * With multi-year purchases, DeGruyter will grant electronic access for
print titles you already own.
  * Purchases in this product line support DeGruyter’s open ebooks initiative
for university press books.

On the other hand:

  * The 5% additional discount is not particularly compelling.
  * If your library has already purchased a number of these ebooks, the
packages will not likely benefit you.

Further details are below, and pricing is attached. Address questions to Megan
Vance (megan.vance [at] degruyter.com<mailto:megan.vance [at] degruyter.com>).

Please pass along within your libraries as needed, and let me or John Burger
know if you have any feedback.
