Hey, ASERL-CDL Friends: If you attended the
September CDL-I forum you will recall several vendors presented information about the services they offer to support Controlled Digital Lending by libraries. One vendor was Backstage Library Works
(BSLW), with whom ASERL has a longstanding discount agreement. BSLW is developing a “rapid digitization program” for libraries that need to convert a print book in response to a CDL request. They are seeking
libraries that want to participate in a pilot of the service (so far, this is all a theoretical enterprise – as of today, they have not had any customers use this service.) Attached is the pilot program description from BSLW. I’ve extracted some highlights below, some/all of which may be negotiable at this time:
The turnaround time is not particularly “rapid” in my mind, especially if you have a patron waiting for an item to be delivered. Perhaps part of the pilot could include developing a faster delivery
process…? Anyone interested in giving this a try? Let’s talk! --jeb John Burger, Executive Director Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL) c/o Robert W. Woodruff Library 540 Asbury Circle, Suite 316 Atlanta, GA 30322 404-218-4207 -- cellular |
