REVISED: ASERL AGS Proposal

Hey folks:

I followed up with Reprints Desk about our unhappiness with their initial proposal for consortial discounts for Article Galaxy Scholar.  I had asked if we could secure greater discounts if we were able to secure a group of libraries (maybe 10 ASERL libraries at one time?) that wanted to license the product.  Their reply = no, but maybe next year.  (ß Reminds me of “free beer tomorrow.”)  Sigh.

What they did offer is an extension on the $2750 early adopter discount (from July 1, 2021 to October 1, 2021) and a willingness to provide the early adopter discount for two years if a library was willing to sign a two-year agreement.  See attached for the revised agreement.

This is a modest improvement, I’d say.  I hope this is a little more interesting to you.

Please let me know any questions.  Orders can be directed to Tony Landolt at Reprints Desk:  tlandolt [at] reprintsdesk.com.

Have a good holiday weekend, all!

Subject: FW: ASERL AGS Proposal

ASERL Resource Sharing Friends:

Attached please find a proposal from our partners at Reprints Desk for their new Article Galaxy Scholar (AGS) service.  They include an incentive for libraries who commence the service before July 1, 2021.

I am aware of one ASERL library (LSU) that is reviewing the contract, with an intent to sign, and another (Memphis) who is in a trial period but also expects to sign on for at least an initial year.

Frankly, I am disappointed in the discounts offered here, but so far have gotten no adjustments from Reprints Desk.  Perhaps if we can assemble a significant group of libraries that want to use the service, we can negotiate better pricing.

** PLEASE REVIEW THE ATTACHED AND CONTACT ME IF YOUR LIBRARY WANTS TO USE ARTICLE GALAXY SCHOLAR, SO I CAN ATTEMPT TO NEGOTIATE FOR BETTER PRICING WITH A KNOWN GROUP OF INTERESTED LIBRARIES **

Thanks much.
