ASERL Friends:

FYI – Cheryle and I just completed a conference call with the leadership of Lanter Delivery Systems where we have come to a verbal agreement to sign a new contract with Lanter to continue serving as the courier for our Kudzu resource sharing program.  This agreement includes two important advances over our current contract:

1)    Implementation of a barcode tracking system to facilitate on-time delivery and trouble-shooting.  Lanter has agreed to customize the system based on our feedback to them so the tracking labels can include the ILL transaction numbers on the outside of the parcels.  This system is expected to be up-and running by Labor Day.

2)    An increase in liability payouts for lost & damaged items from the current $100 maximum to a maximum of $250 per shipment.

We will review the final details closely as we work on the written contract tin the next week – 10 days.

HELP NEEDED:  Lanter seeks input from ASERL Resource Sharing librarians regarding the design/content of the new shipping labels they will be creating for us.  I need help from 4 – 6 people who handle these matters on a day-to-day basis to advise/ guide these discussions during the next 4 – 6 weeks.  If you would like to serve in this role, please reply to me via email.

Thanks for your support during these important negotiations.  Please let me know any questions or comments.
