ASERL Friends: I am pleased to announce our ASERL Open Access Week 2014 Webcast. Our speaker will be Erin McKiernan, a researcher working primarily in experimental and theoretical neuroscience at Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Xochitepec, Morelos, México. Erin will lead a presentation "Open Access: A Researcher's View", followed by Q&A from ASERL members. Erin received her PhD from the University of Arizona, and now works in Mexico at the National Institute of Public Health. The differences in literature access between the US and Mexico started Erin on her current path of open access advocate. She will discuss her personal experiences with lack of access to scholarly literature, publishing in subscription and OA journals, green self-archiving, open peer review, and altmetrics. Christine Fruin and Robin Sinn will moderate the discussion. Information about Erin's research can be found at http://emckiernan.wordpress.com/. Information about Open Access Week can be found at http://www.openaccessweek.org/.
