ASERL-Selectives Mailing List: ASERL Documents Disposition Database

Phase II of the ASERL Document Disposition Database has been released. The software now supports both needs and offers! The LibGuide at http://guides.uflib.ufl.edu/ASERL-DispositionDB has been updated to document the new features.

 

The ASERL Deans FDLP Steering Committee had its first conference call yesterday. The members are:

            Sylverna Ford, University of Memphis

            Lance Query, Tulane University

            Julia Rholes, University of Mississippi

            Kay Wall, Clemson University

 

The Steering Committee agreed that the software is ready for implementation throughout the region and recommended that all 12 Regional Depository Libraries in the southeast actively use the software themselves and encourage their Selectives to begin using the software. The objective is to have all the Depository Libraries in the southeast using (or able to use) the software by October 1^st.

 

To facilitate this roll out, ASERL arranged for a web-based demonstration of the Document Disposition Database for Depository Coordinators at Regional Depositories in the Southeast and Members of ASERL Deans FDLP Steering Committee tomorrow.

 

There will be another session open to anyone interested in learning more about the Database on September 1^st at 11 a.m. Eastern. Regional Documents Coordinators should inform all of the Selectives in their state about the demonstration and encourage them to participate. I was also asked to remind you that all ASERL Libraries agreed to select at least one agency or topic for their Center of Excellence by September 1, 2011.  The current list of Centers of Excellence is available at http://www.aserl.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/CoE_Expressions_of_Interest.pdf.
