September 9, 2022 – ATLANTA – Today the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL) announced a new partnership with leading research library organizations to support ongoing development of the Research Library Position Description Bank, a database of thousands of job descriptions provided by research libraries from across North America and the UK.  The partnering organizations are:

  • Association of Research Libraries (ARL)
  • Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL)
  • Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL)
  • Research Libraries UK (RLUK)

Formerly called the ARL Position Description Bank, the new moniker and governance structure reflects a broad-based community approach for supporting this resource into the future.   The database was designed and is maintained by a team at the George A. Smathers Libraries of the University of Florida.

The PD Bank is a service available at no charge to all ASERL libraries as a benefit of their membership in the Association.  The new governance structure includes committees to help guide future developments; a call for volunteers to fill these roles will be coming soon.

See https://www.aserl.org/2022/09/rl-pd-bank/ for the full announcement and links to the PD Bank website.

Please let me know any questions.  We hope this proves to be a valuable resource for our members!

Kind regards,
