ASERL Friends:

As you hopefully know, yesterday are posted a new role within ASERL, our “Program Coordinator for Shared Collection Resources” role.  This will be an expansion of Cheryle Cole-Bennett’ role following her retirement at the end of December 2022.  We are excited that this new role will enable ASERL to consider new enhancements for both our Shared Print Archiving Programs and our Resource Sharing programming and connections between the two.  (The job postings are available on the Emory HR website, if you have not seen them.  Search for “ASERL.”)

SEARCH COMMITTEE

We are now seeking a few volunteers to serve on the Search Committee for this role.  The Search Committee will include ASERL staff, a few ASERL Board members, and a few people who have been active in our Shared Print and Resource Sharing communities <– which is why I’m writing to you today.  Search Committee members from the Shared Print and Resource Sharing communities must be very familiar with ASERL’s existing programming and have a broad understanding of best practices in these respective areas.  Previous experience serving on a Search Committee is helpful but not required.

If this piques your interest, here’s a an estimated timeline of Search Committee activities.

TIMELINE / ANTICIPATED ACTIVITIES

  1. August 15 – September 15:  Job is posted / shared widely / applications received / initial screenings are considered
  2. Week of September 12 & 19:  Initial pool of candidates are identified / invited for Zoom interviews
  3. Week of September 19 & 26:  Conduct Zoom interviews with initial candidates / identify finalists
  4. Week of October 12:  Schedule in-person interviews with finalists
  5. Week of October 19:  Conduct in-person interviews with finalists in Atlanta
  6. Week of October 26:  Search Committee to confer and identify preferred candidate, make job offer
  7. Mid-November:  New person begins in role (includes a few weeks of overlap with Cheryle before she retires to hand-off tasks and processes)

Most activities will happen via online meeting (Zoom).  ASERL will cover travel costs for Search Committee members to participate in the in-person interviews in Atlanta.

Please let me know of your interest at your earliest opportunity, no later than August 30.  ASERL will confirm your participation with your library’s leadership before any appointments to the Search Committee are finalized.

With our thanks for your consideration of this request!

Kind regards,
