Hey folks – Please see the note below from Jacob at LSU regarding their decision to not proceed with Article Galaxy Scholar. Are others encountering the same issue? If so, perhaps we should arrange a huddle to compare
notes. Thanks. --jeb John Burger, Executive Director Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL) c/o Robert W. Woodruff Library 540 Asbury Circle, Suite 316 Atlanta, GA 30322 404-218-4207 -- cellular From: Jacob Fontenot <jacobfontenot [at] lsu.edu> Hi John, Hope things are going well in Atlanta! Here’s that update about LSU and Article Galaxy Scholar. LSU is not signing up for now. The show stopper is that when a patron clicks the Article Galaxy Scholar link on their EDS search they lose the option to use ILL. They click the AGS link and see a custom message from us that warns that
using AGS will cost the library for each use. But at that point the patron doesn’t get an option to choose ILL – so the warning is pointless. The patron would have to click the Back button a couple of times to get back to their EDS search results then choose
the Request through ILL option. OK in 1999 but not today. We want patrons to get that custom message then get to choose Article Galaxy or ILL. Reprints Desk claims no other library has asked for this. Could you let me know if any other ASERL libraries are looking into AGS? I’d like to get in
touch with them to hopefully put some pressure on Reprints Desk to add this feature. Thanks, Jacob Fontenot LSU Libraries |
