ASERL Friends: A reminder that we will host the following webinar next week. Please share with others who might be interested. A list of current registrants is below, FYI. "Where Do Libraries Fit in the Evolving Scholarly Communication Landscape? Reflections on Penn's Scholarly Communication Report." Following Elsevier’s acquisition of bepress in 2017, the University of Pennsylvania Libraries tasked a cross divisional group of seven librarians with learning more about scholarly communications practices on campus and platforms that might best support those needs. Over the following year, that task force conducted user research in the form of a survey taken by over 400 faculty, staff, and students and over 30 interviews; conducted an environmental scan of platforms and institutions that provide services around repositories and publishing; and held numerous conversations with internal and external stakeholders. The Penn Libraries’ Scholarly Communication Report (http://bit.ly/pennscholcommreport2019) brings together these learnings and reflects on the changing scholarly communication landscape. In this session, members of the task force will discuss the report and lead discussion on what role this sort of work might play in the future of library scholarly communication services.
