ASERL Friends:

A quick reminder about two webinars we are offering next week:

MONDAY: “Our Experiences with ReadCube”
ReadCube Access is a patron‐driven document delivery service for articles in
Nature Publishing Group (NPG) journals. ReadCube allows users immediate access
to articles from Nature Publishing Group journals at a lower cost than document
delivery, but with usage restrictions. In 2014, Auburn University Libraries
began using ReadCube to acquire articles. With nearly 100 NPG journals
available through ReadCube, the service is heavily used at the AU Libraries.
This case study will explain ReadCube’s functionality and discuss Auburn’s
experience with ReadCube.

THURSDAY: "Developing a Multifaceted Approach to Assessing Monograph
Collection Performance at GSU"
In this webinar Skye Hardesty (Department Head, Collection Development) and
Tricia Clayton (Collections Services Librarian) will talk about a recent
monograph assessment project at Georgia State University Library. A
multifaceted data-driven analysis was developed in order to provide a detailed
and holistic picture of monograph collection performance and buying patterns.
For example, librarians analyzed use of the monograph collection broken down by
spending categories, format, and LC class, but also compared usage of the
entire collection to the performance of the recently acquired titles. A more
qualitative component of the assessment involved recording the decisions
underlying the subject librarians' FY16 purchases. The speakers will share how
the analysis was developed, what the data revealed, and the action items
generated out of the project. The discussion will cover how to combine large
data sets from multiple sources for assessment and how combining use and
acquisitions data of print and electronic monographs helped improve purchasing
decisions at Georgia State University.
