ASERL Friends: FYI – Attached is a quick rundown on who-has-signed-on-to-what for the new programming initiatives we posted over the past few weeks. These programs include: ·
New Metrics:
A pilot program of up to 3 years to create a new set of dashboard-type metrics to describe the work of research libraries. The goal is to develop a new framework that
portrays the successes of research libraries in ways that are easily understood to non-librarians, both friends and skeptics. We expect prototypes to be reviewed / critiqued by university-level administrators and library deans/directors to ensure the data
are readily understood and portray the types of information about library impacts on research, teaching, and learning that are desired by high level decision-makers.
·
Gold Rush Monograph Assessment: A 1-year pilot effort to
assess the overlap & uniqueness of participating ASERL libraries’ monograph collections, using the Gold Rush Library Content Comparison System.
·
Occam’s Reader:
A pilot project to facilitate sharing of e-book content among our members using the “Occam’s Reader” tool developed by GWLA and Texas Tech. If you see anything incorrect (you signed up and I omitted it, or vice versa), or would like more information about any of these initiatives please let me know. Thanks to everyone who has signed on to these interesting and useful new programs! As always, your support for ASERL programming is most appreciated. --jeb John Burger, Executive Director Association of Southeastern Research Libraries ASERL c/o Georgia State University Library - Administration Suite LS-702 100 Decatur Street, S.E.
