Unmediated Requests Via WorldCat Discovery

Has anyone encountered issues with patrons being able to place ILL requests from within WorldCat Discovery (worldcat.org)?  We use ILLiad to manage/process our ILL requests. In order for our patrons to place an ILL request, they must first create an ILLiad account.

In the past two weeks we have been receiving books that did not have a transaction number, which is assigned by ILLiad automatically, but did have an ILL number.  The patron’s name was listed on the request. One patron did not have an ILLiad account setup.  This was very puzzling to us because our patrons are only allowed to place ILL requests via ILLiad.

The printed OCLC request sent with the books had the acronym, WCDISC, which stands for WorldCat Discovery.  We thought our patrons are doing this somehow from our library’s website.  After searching our website, we discovered we did have a link to worldcat.org and our patrons were able to place requests without being authenticated first. When the requests were filled, the payments for lending fees were automatically made via IFM.  We have many issues with our patrons being able to place ILL requests this way.

We would like to have the link/button to request items disabled.  Does anyone know how to do this? Is there a preference setting that will allow us to turn this off?

Thank you!

Once the patron goes to worldcat.org this is the first screen that appears:

Patrons search for items…

Then request it…
