ASERL Friends: I am pleased to announce another session in our "Beyond Our Stacks" webinar series, scheduled for October 22. For this session, we will be joined by Suzanne Ward, Collection Strategist at Purdue University Libraries. OVERVIEW Many academic libraries are bursting at the seams with large quantities of books, journal volumes, microforms, and other materials that have now either been duplicated electronically or have outlived their usefulness. What is the best way to reduce the physical collection while still maintaining the collection’s integrity? Suzanne Ward, Collection Strategist at Purdue University Libraries, will lead this webinar in which she introduces the concept of rightsizing the academic library collection. Learn why we as a profession find ourselves facing this dilemma and how we can work collaboratively to reduce the size of individual collections without damaging our ability to provide quick access to older material when our patrons need it. Please share this invitation with interested colleagues. As always, this session is available free to ASERL members, and will be recorded for later playback.
