ASERL Friends:

FYI – I wanted to pass along news that ASERL will submit an amicus brief in support of our colleagues at Georgia State University in their ongoing defense of the copyright lawsuit brought by Cambridge, Oxford, and Sage.  From our discussions, it is clear ASERL is well positioned to make several important arguments as a consortium of libraries operating in the 11th Federal Circuit, and across the Southeast more broadly.

ASERL has retained legal counsel to draft and file the amicus brief on our behalf, and we will work with the people in our Scholarly Communications Interest Group to aid in the research process for the brief.

This is new territory for ASERL, and we are still in the early stages of the work -- we will report back as the process unfolds.  Please let me know any questions.

Thank you.
