Good morning!

In case you missed it, I am forwarding a post that Valerie Glenn made to GOVDOC-L announcing a Q&A session on the draft report from the Task Force on a Digital Federal Depository Program.

Please note:  Valerie later commented that the link provided for the session is NOT a registration link, this is the link you will use to access the program on October 7th.

Additionally, the CFDP Oversight Committee is currently reviewing the draft report and expects to submit comments by the October 14th deadline.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the Digital Task Force members for their hard work and many contributions to this effort.

Cheryle

Subject: Q&A on the draft report on a digital FDLP

Hi all,

  Last week the Task Force on a Digital Federal Depository Library Program issued its draft report for public comment with a deadline of October 14, 2022. The Task Force was appointed to study the feasibility of an all-digital Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) and was charged with determining "whether an all-digital FDLP is necessary, and if so, defining the scope of an all-digital depository program and making recommendations as to how to implement and operate such a program."

  *   Draft Report for Public Comment: Task Force on a Digital Federal Depository Library Program

  *   Draft report comment form

Now is the time to make your voice heard! Members of the FDLP community and its users are encouraged to review and comment on the draft report. Your insight into how the public uses and accesses federal government information and how your libraries manage and provide access to FDLP materials will be invaluable to the Task Force and the GPO as they finalize their report and make recommendations about the future of the FDLP to the GPO Director.

When reading the report and formulating comments, please consider:

  *   Overall, do you like, dislike, or are neutral on the recommendations?

  *   Are your library's needs and/or needs of your users reflected in the report?

  *   What strengths do you see in the recommendations? What needs additional exploration or clarification?

In order to help inform your feedback on this document, the GODORT Legislation Committee will be holding a Q&A session with Shari Laster and Scott Matheson on Friday, October 7th from 1-2 pm EDT.  To register for the session, please visit https://ala-events.zoom.us/j/91381284036?pwd=ZGpVWGFWaGdqeStYWWpjM21UdVByUT09

We hope to see you there!

Best,

Valerie Glenn
