Good afternoon ASERL Friends! I am emailing to share information on a modification that has been implemented in the ASERL Documents Disposition Database. Regionals, I would please ask for your help in sharing this information with your Selectives (some of whom may
not be subscribers of the ASERL Selectives list). As you may recall, the ASERL Documents Disposition Database has historically imported the library’s contact information (street address, city, state, phone) from the Federal Depository Library Directory (FDLD) database. This has been a
manual process, run periodically by the programmers at the University of Florida. There can be delays in updating this information, particularly when changes have been made to the FDLP Directory file format requiring changes to the import code in the Disposition
database. The more expedient option is for Libraries’ to manage this contact information directly – which also has a secondary benefit in allowing temporary changes to the contact information if unplanned closures/emergencies should arise.
In the upper left corner of the Welcome screen, just beneath your institution’s information. The “Change Email” link has been replaced with “Update Contact”. Please know that this is the
Library’s contact information not an individual user on the account.
Please note: We recognize that there may be instances when a library would also need to edit the
City and the Zip Code. These fields will be made editable within the next couple of weeks. In the interim, please email me and I will make that change for you if needed.
Due to their integration within the database, the
Institution, Library and State cannot be editable fields.
Hover your cursor over the magnifying glass icon next to the name of an institution and a pop-up box will display. As always, please let me know if you have any questions, or if I can be of assistance. Thanks!
