Regional Government Documents Librarian
Assistant University Librarian or Associate University Librarian
The Regional Government Documents Librarian (Documents Librarian)
is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position in the Humanities and Social Sciences Library (Library West). The George A. Smathers Libraries at the University of Florida is designated as a depository for the publications of the United States Government, the
State of Florida, and the European Union. The scope of the collections thus includes federal, state, and international documents.
Joining the George A. Smathers Libraries as the Documents Librarian
entails serving as the primary liaison to the US Government Publishing Office (GPO) in matters relating to the Libraries’ service as a Regional Federal Depository Library for 38 selective depository libraries in the state of Florida, Puerto Rico, and the US
Virgin Islands. This position leads statewide outreach, training, public access, support services, and collection development activities to support the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). The Documents Librarian also plays an important role ensuring
access to state publications distributed by the Florida Division of Library and Information Services. Both programs allow the incumbent to build strong partnerships with a diverse constituency at the state, regional and national levels while advancing innovative
programs to strengthen awareness of the increasing relevancy of government documents in current research and public interest.

position is expected to include individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences, races, ethnicities, genders, and perspectives in work activities. The Documents Librarian will pursue professional development opportunities, including research, publication,
and professional service activities in order to meet criteria for tenure and promotion.
