 has officially opened for the 21st Academic Library Services Paraprofessional 
Conference, hosted by the SHRA assembly of Joyner Library. This year’s 
conference explores the themes of Technology and Digital Fluency. Our keynote 
speaker will be Dr. Erezi Ogbo-Gebhardt, assistant professor in Information 
Science and the program director of Online and Extended Studies at North 
Carolina Central University’s School of Library and Information Science and a 
nationally recognized digital inclusion scholar. This year's conference will be 
a hybrid event held on May 16, 2024, with sessions offered both in-person and 
virtually.

The planning committee is excited to invite attendees to make the trip to 
Joyner Library, located at East Carolina University, in Greenville, NC. This 
year the registration fee will be $30 for in-person, with $15 discounts 
available for MLS and MLIS students with the discount code “2025-student-rate", 
and $5 for virtual attendees.

For in-person attendees, we will have a light breakfast, lunch, snacks, and 
face-to-face networking that just cannot be duplicated with a virtual event. 
This year’s lunch will be traditional Eastern North Carolina style barbeque 
(vinegar based pulled pork), smoked turkey, and sides, as well as black bean 
burgers and sides for our vegetarian and vegan attendees.
