ASERL Friends:

It's that time of year: Rotation of leadership posts for ASERL's committees /
Interest Groups / Communities of Practice. Our sincere thanks to the outgoing
chairs (see below) for their leadership; we hope you will be inspired to follow
their lead and step forward to be one of the new co-chairs.

BASIC INFO
  * Ideally ASERL seeks three co-chairs for each committee; this allows work to
continue should one of the co-chairs become unavailable.

  * Each post is a 2-year service commitment, with the option to renew if
desired. The posts below will start in July 2022, through June 2024.

  * Each volunteer is asked to submit a brief statement describing what they
hope to accomplish in the role, any specific project ideas they have,
noteworthy skills / experiences that they feel are useful, etc.

  * Self-nomination (volunteering) is strongly encouraged!

  * Final selections are made by the ASERL Board during their next meeting /
conference call.

POSTS AVAILABLE -- Seeking 1 - 2 people to fill upcoming vacancies for each of
the groups below

a) Accessibility Interest Group

b) Big Deal Community of Practice

c) DEI Taskforce – A new ‘charge’ for the group is in development, to design /
implement a new BIPOC networking group for ASERL. Many opportunities TBA.

d) Scholarly Communications Committee

e) Special Collections Interest Group

f) Associate Deans / AUL Networking Forum

g) Development / Advancement Networking (NEW!) A new group, yet to be
launched, to connect people working in development / advancement / fundraising
roles within our community. We welcome volunteers to help draft a charge and
plan initial activities, and hopefully serve in leadership roles for the first
year or two once the group gets off the ground.

OTHER

NEWSLETTER DESIGNER -- Seeking a design-savvy person with familiarity with
MailChimp to assist us in creating attractive e-newsletters once per quarter.
ASERL staff write the copy; this person makes it an attractive package to help
foster greater participation in our programming. Our thanks to Adrianna Harris
(FIU) for her great work with this over the past two+ years.

Desired skills/expertise

* Effective at fostering a sense of community across remote locations

* Well-connected & current: Very current on emerging issues in the scope of
the Committee / Interest Group /Community of Practice

* Availability to contribute 3 - 4 hours per month to this volunteer activity

* Willing to contact people inside / outside ASERL to serve as webinar
speakers and other roles

* Experience in planning webinars / unconferences / similar events is desirable

* Familiarity with basic webpage editing tools (WordPress) to re-imagine /
maintain relevant webpages

Anyone interested in working on these initiatives are asked to submit their
names and brief statement describing their interests, relevant experiences, and
any particular projects they’d like to undertake to Elaina Norlin (enorlin [at]
aserl.org<mailto:enorlin [at] aserl.org>) or me by June 15.

THANKS to everyone who has provided leadership to our many activities over the
past year (and in some cases, two years.) ASERL is only as good as our
volunteers – we owe much of success to your talents and brain power.

We greatly appreciate your consideration of this request. Please let Elaina or
me know any questions.

Kind regards,

--j.e.b.
