In this webinar we will hear how a course on the Civil Rights Movement at the 
University of Central Florida used material from Adam Matthew collections to 
facilitate primary source research and student collaboration in an in-person 
and online environment. This case study will be followed by wider discussion of 
online pedagogy, the support that Adam Matthew offers in this area, and a 
reminder of the current pricing offer open to all ASERL members.

"A Gale-ASERL Conversation - Leveraging your content in Teaching and Research: 
Sexuality and Gender / Women's Studies"

This session will describe ways ASERL libraries can optimize use of the content 
they currently own / have under license.  Speakers will include Dr. M.C. 
Santana, an Associate Professor and Director of the Women's and Gender Studies 
program at the University of Central Florida's College of Arts and Humanities 
since 2009. Dr. Santana is an interdisciplinary scholar fusing media, gender 
studies and leadership in her teaching and research. She has taught for the 
Women's and Gender Studies Program , CREATE, Burnett Honors College, Nicholson 
School of Communication and the School of Visual Arts and Design. Santana is an 
activist with the Farmworker Association of Florida, Planned Parenthood, 
Equality Florida, Girl Scouts of Citrus Council and Peace and Justice Institute 
at Valencia College. In the past 10 years she received 4 national grants 
dealing with Leadership and Girls and 4 teaching awards at UCF.

Dr Santana will be joined by Shawn(ta) Smith-Cruz, Associate Dean for Teaching, 
Learning, and Engagement at New York University Division of Libraries. Shawn is 
a co-coordinating volunteer archivist at the Lesbian Herstory Archives, 
Co-Chair for the board of CLAGS: The Center for LGBTQ Studies at the Graduate 
Center, CUNY and chair of the CLAGS Archives committee. Shawn has a BS in Queer 
Women's Studies from the CUNY Baccalaureate Program, an MFA in Creative 
Writing/Fiction, and an MLS with a focus on Archiving and Records Management 
from Queens College. 

Phil Virta from Gale will discuss the key collections that comprise these 
primary source archives that will help your students reflect on gender, 
sexuality and identity throughout history.  Sara Tarpley, Gale's Director of 
Academic Products, will review technology for integrating primary sources into 
coursework by way of permalinks and LMS integration, including a preview of the 
new Gale Case Studies product.  Additional remarks will be offered by Vince 
Vessalo, Senior Director, Gale Primary Sources Program.
