ASERL Friends: I am pleased to share the following announcement about the launch of the Library Partnership Rating website -- https://library-partnership-rating.pubpub.org/ -- formed by two librarians with roots in our community. The LPR site is in its nascent stage but hopefully provides useful information as you consider future purchasing/licensing decisions, with plans for much future growth. Please share with others in your library who would benefit from learning about this new program. Rachel and Robin are happy to receive your feedback – their contact information is below – and will be presenting at the Charleston Conference as well. Kind regards, --j.e.b. If you were with ASERL in 2020, perhaps you caught Rachel’s presentation<https://vimeo.com/468941765> about the first iteration of what is now LPR. Library Partnership Rating (LPR) attempts to answer the question, How do a publisher’s practices align with the values of the library profession? OUR PROCESS * Librarians evaluate journal publisher practices for alignment with select library values using the <https://library-partnership-rating.pubpub.org/lp-rubric> LP Rubric<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18b79CMwyW_H04ucsB7QnRQAO5i1ln--Olgr41z9o-N0/edit?usp=sharing> and publicly available information. A journal publisher earns a score based on their practices. Librarians can use that score or any subset of scores from the rubric to inform their decisions about investing library resources. * Publishers thus scored will soon be able to augment this information by completing the LPR Publisher Questionnaire<https://library-partnership-rating.pubpub.org/publisher-questionnaire>. That information will be posted alongside the ratings, to present a more complete picture of the publisher’s practices, opportunities, and challenges. LPR is possible only because of the many individuals<https://library-partnership-rating.pubpub.org/people> who offered us their time and expertise as advisory council members, reviewers, and scorers. We thank them for their support in this effort. WANT TO BE INVOVLED? Please let us know if you’d like to participate<https://library-partnership-rating.pubpub.org/call-for-participation> in LPR. Librarians interested in participating can become scorers. Publishers can request to be scored. Please look through our presentations and publications<https://osf.io/zb9g6/wiki/Presentations%20and%20Publications/> if you’re interested in more background information. We hope this is a useful resource and starts many conversations between librarians and publishers. Let us know what you think.
