Subject: ASERL Collections Offers Survey

Hello ASERL Collections colleagues,
We’re kicking off a new season of ASERL collaboration and would value your
input on a couple of collections topics. First up: We have been approached by
several vendors who would like to propose an offer or explain more about their
available product. In an effort to consolidate this communication, we are
thinking about offering a demo session (or a series of sessions) where vendors
might be able to talk briefly to our community.

Before planning that, though, we’d like to hear from you whether or not you
have any interest in these specific vendors. We also recognize that the person
receiving this message may not be the person best suited to answer, so please
feel free to pass along to your acquisitions or other colleagues.

The broad strokes of the offers are indicated below. For each offer, please
indicate your level of interest, and note any comments or questions. We do ask
that you also let us know who is responding so we can follow up if necessary.
Please respond to the survey by Friday, October 27.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at rebecca [at]

  *   Janes/OSINT (inquiry)
     *   “Janes<https://www.janes.com/osint-from-janes> is a provider of open

globally. I’d be happy to learn how ASERL provides their member resources and
if things Janes is doing with similar groups like NERL could be helpful for you
too.”
  *   IWA Publishing (inquiry)
     * In 2020, ASERL held a Society Publishers Coalition focus group. “IWA
Publishing and our counterparts at the Royal Society, Microbiology Society,
Company of Biologists and Portland Press remain keen to share our experience of
the transition to open access over the last two years and future strategy with
ASERL members. IWA Publishing has been at the forefront of developing the
Subscribe to Open model that facilitates equitable open access without levying
article processing charges. It would be great to hear from you if you think
there might be sufficient interest to organise a follow up to the session run
in the fall of 2020.”

Thank you!
-Rebecca
