Good morning ASERL Friends,

In 2018, the Collaborative Federal Depository Program (CFDP) Steering Committee will conduct a review of the Guidelines for Management and Disposition of Federal Depository Library Collections in the Southeast ― Implementation Plan, the document that governs the CFDP Program.  This document was last reviewed and revised in 2012.

Since its inception in 2006, the CFDP has grown from three Centers of Excellence to 40, with collections covering 229 agencies, 1 format and 3 subject areas.   During this time, more than 67,890 documents posted for disposal in the ASERL Documents Disposition Database have been claimed by another library and added to their collections.  222 of the 308 depository libraries in the 11 state ASERL region use this database to coordinate their disposal process.  Recent enhancements to the database have also helped ensure that libraries’ needs and offers can be shared with the FDLP eXchange system in development by GPO.

The CFDP Steering Committee remains committed to ensuring that the program and services meets the needs of FDLP libraries in the southeast into the future.  To that end, we welcome your participation in the review of the Guidelines and invite comments through January 31, 2018.  Please send all comments/questions to ccole-bennett [at]

It is the goal of the Committee to have a preliminary draft prepared for the FDLP Dean’s Committee by early March, with a final draft presented at the ASERL Spring Membership meeting at the end of May 2018.

Thank you in advance for your participation!
