Library Diversity Residents who have recently started their residencies are
invited to attend the upcoming 2019 Diversity Residents Institute, a
three-day training and networking event here in Greensboro, NC. (URL:
https://librarydiversity.institute/insitutes/ )

Travel and other attendance costs will be covered courtesy of the Institute
of Museum and Library Services. This institute will orient new residents to
best practices in getting the most out of their residency experience, and
also provide them with a professional network of colleagues nationally.
The 2018 Institute was attended by 37 diversity residents, who
overwhelmingly report that it made a huge beneficial difference in the
quality of their residency experience.

The 2019 Diversity Residents Institute will be held Aug. 23-25, 2019 and
will be followed by another affiliated event, the 2019 Library Diversity
and Residency Studies (LDRS) Conference on Aug. 26-27, 2019 (URL:

Please note: The Institute is open to Diversity Residents only.
Non-residents who are interested in these topics are encouraged to attend
the LDRS Conference, which is open to all interested parties, including
residency coordinators, diversity coordinators, library administrators, etc.

If interested, please RSVP via email to library.diversity [at] uncg.edu with the
name of resident & expected start date of their residency. Preference will
be given to those who RSVP by July 1. Please note that expression of
interest is not a guarantee of acceptance. ACRL Diversity Alliance member
schools will receive preference, but Residents from other schools are
welcome to apply. Residents who have not yet attended an Institute will be
given preference over previous attendees.
